Vision Systems for Quality Control and Analysis

Custom solutions with cameras and software

Datinf® GmbH develops camera-based measurement and inspection systems for automated quality inspection and analysis. Typical applications include measuring parts, checking tolerances, defect detection, evaluating surfaces and colors, and determining objects, positions or changes.

The starting point is always your specific task: What needs to be measured, inspected, detected or documented?

We assess how your application can be implemented sensibly under real conditions – from a feasibility study to a robust production solution.

Quick start

How an initial idea becomes a reliable assessment

If you briefly describe which part, feature or problem needs to be checked, we can usually assess quickly whether a measurement system, optical quality inspection, color analysis or a feasibility study is the right next step.

  • initial technical assessment of the task
  • guidance on data, image capture conditions and constraints
  • recommendation for sensible next steps instead of rushing into a tool choice

Typical starting point

  1. Briefly describe the task
  2. Share sample images, the measurement goal or the defect pattern
  3. Align on an initial assessment or feasibility study

A short process description, typical tolerances and 2 to 5 sample images are especially helpful.

Typical tasks

  • Measure parts and check tolerances
  • Detect defects, deviations and faults
  • Evaluate colors and surfaces reproducibly
  • Determine objects, positions and orientations
  • Count parts and verify completeness
  • Classify or categorize features
  • Detect barcodes and human-readable text
  • Read text automatically with OCR

What you get from us

  • Technically appropriate solution design instead of a generic standard solution
  • Feasibility study with real data and clear targets
  • Prototyping and implementation from proof of concept to stable operation
  • Traceable results with documentation, statistics and reporting
  • Practical integration into your process and IT environment

For us, the priority is not “AI at any cost”, but a solution that works robustly under real conditions – including imaging conditions, lighting, calibration, process variation and later operation.

Visual inspection like a human – only reproducible and measurable

Many inspection and measurement tasks are based on what a human can see: shapes, positions, surfaces, colors or changes. Camera-based systems make it possible to reproduce this visual perception technically and automate it.

Unlike manual visual inspection, the results are reproducible, documentable and scalable. At the same time, image data allows measurement functions to be integrated directly – for distances, sizes, angles or tolerances, for example.

A simple rule of thumb: Anything a person can recognize visually can also be captured with cameras – and in many cases measured and evaluated as well.

Our solution areas at a glance

Many customers are not searching for the technical term “machine vision”, but for a solution to a specific task. That is why we structure our offering around typical problem areas.

Measurement Systems

Camera-based measurement systems for distances, angles, diameters, areas, tolerances, positions, 2D measurements and 3D evaluation.

Examples of typical requirements

  • Measure parts and verify them against tolerances
  • Detect defects or anomalies automatically
  • Analyze color ranges reproducibly
  • Locate objects in space or monitor movements
  • Extend existing systems with optical evaluation
  • Combine inspection with documentation and statistics
  • Validate new machine vision approaches in advance
  • Implement special tasks without suitable standard software

From idea to a robust production solution

We start with a structured clarification of the task: Which target values matter? Which tolerances, constraints and integration points must be considered? We then evaluate existing image, video or 3D data – or plan data acquisition together with you.

On this basis, we develop a technical concept and, if required, create a feasibility study or proof of concept. The goal is not a nice demo, but a reliable assessment of how the solution performs under real conditions.

Typical project sequence

  1. Initial consultation and task clarification at no charge
  2. Feasibility study with data review and target values
  3. Prototyping and evaluation under practical conditions
  4. Implementation, integration and rollout
  5. Further development, maintenance and reporting as needed

Technical focus areas

Machine vision, software and data

  • Image and video evaluation with traceable logic
  • 2D and 3D data analysis including point clouds
  • Management, storage and evaluation of larger image datasets
  • Statistical metrics, reports and visualizations
  • Interfaces to databases, web services and existing software

Performance and robustness

  • Selection of camera, optics and lighting to fit the task
  • Calibration and parameter tuning for precise results
  • Parallelized algorithms and GPU usage where appropriate
  • Reproducible operation from standalone systems to client/server
  • Consideration of real conditions instead of lab assumptions

Would you like to discuss a specific task?

Whether it is a measurement system, quality inspection, color inspection or 3D evaluation, what matters is that the solution fits your application and your process. If you want to assess whether your task can be implemented sensibly with cameras and software, a short technical discussion is usually the best start.

If images, defect examples or measurement requirements are already available, you can include them directly in your inquiry. After receiving it, we will get back to you promptly with an initial technical response.

Why choose Dat-inf for demanding machine vision tasks

We combine machine vision, software development, measurement logic and inspection logic into solutions that do not just work as demos, but can be integrated into real processes.

  • custom development instead of unsuitable standard software
  • practical focus from capture conditions to integration
  • traceability through documentation, evaluation and clear criteria
